Job Summary
We are currently seeking skilled and team-oriented applicants for the following position: Network Manager
The Network Manager manages, designs, builds and supports the networking and infrastructure services that underpin the connectivity for all users and systems at EWU Cheney, satellite campuses, and cloud-based venues. Overall, this position will be responsible for providing for the engineering and operations of secure and highly available networks, automation resources, configuration management; design, deployment and release of new networking and telephony technologies; developing standards that enhance existing mission critical systems as well as provide infrastructure solutions based on university needs and anticipated growth. The Network Manager will have substantial responsibility for senior level network architecture, design, management, network programming and resource allocation. Additionally, this position is responsible for consulting throughout the university to determine functional specifications for IT networking and telephony solutions. Duties will involve design, consultation, documentation, hardware installation, enhancing and streamlining existing systems, replacing and restructuring of legacy systems, architect networking and telephony solutions, enhancing configuration management and automation tools, providing quality assurance and delivering analysis of data and systems for the university.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) in Routing and Switching OR the ability to obtain certification within 6 months of employment date.
  • 8+ years of direct experience with switches, routers and related components.
  • 2+ years of direct experience with physical wiring, telecommunications, and telephony applications.
  • 1+ years supervisory experience and/or proven abilities to mentor a diverse team and growing both individual and team successes.
  • Proven experience with migrations from on-premises services to cloud-based solutions.
  • Comprehensive experience with both Windows and Linux operating systems in a multi-server environment.
  • Comprehensive understanding of networking technologies in support of both on premises hardware and virtualized environments as well as cloud/hybrid services.
  • Must have experience working in enterprise environments with systems supporting 500+ users.
  • Ability to work independently and the ability to prioritize workload and multiple projects simultaneously for your team and yourself in a fast-paced environment.
  • As a manager level position, may occasionally be expected to work nights and weekends.
  • Expert knowledge in policy creation, and documentation writing.
  • Expert understanding in leading teams to meet Service Level Agreement requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to comply with all university policies and standards.
  • Experience and knowledge of cloud-based architecture design, environments, and applications.
  • Demonstrated interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility, and/or diversity.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Compliance auditing and policy creation.
  • NIST 800-53 knowledge.

    • Architectural and design lead for the development of scalable network infrastructure for the university.
    • Architect the design and development of university cloud networking infrastructure.
    • Architect and design network monitoring technologies, packaged or open source solutions.
    • Ensure solutions are architected and delivered by the team using industry-leading best practices and technologies.
    • Ensure resilience and high availability for enterprise networks.
    • At an expert level, configure and deploy new network/voice related equipment to meet campus needs.

    • Provide consultation to Facilities and Planning on configuration and deployment of infrastructure technologies that include fiber and copper.

    • Prepare and submit documentation for the replacement of technological solutions to include budget requests, bid requests, price quotes, product selection documentation and justification. Anticipate future campus needs by forecasting system usage and growth based on data collected from applicable systems.
