Position Summary Information
Primary Purpose | The Network Engineer I is responsible for a high level of technical support to the University community including the following requirements: gathering, design, installation, configuration, troubleshooting, upgrading and maintaining networking, telecommunications and related computer systems. They generate documentation on how to utilize the systems, provides written technical resolutions in a central knowledge base, and assists in the development of technical standards for networking and telecommunications systems. In addition to support of daily operations, this position includes vendor and customer interactions in the evaluation, technical design and implementation of projects that advance the state of the University’s data, voice and video networking infrastructure. This position is responsible for second-level network support for the Helpdesk. |

Work Environment/Work Week/Travel: Primarily office setting, AV closets and /or data center with exposure to noise and cooler temperatures. Work performed during standard business hours, 8:00AM-5PM, M-F, occasional overtime and hours worked outside of normal schedule may be required to meet business deadlines. Travel may be required to other campuses, meetings or training. Valid driver’s license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the University’s fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business. The University and its insurance carrier reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record. |
Hiring Range | $30.00 - $37.22 per hour. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. |
