The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Network and Server Administrator, Thomas and Mack Arena, UNLV Intercollegiate Athletics[R0131420].

ROLE of the POSITION

Key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Specification, acquisition, installation, setup, and management of server, network, and other computer-related hardware and software.

  • Network monitoring & configuration to ensure optimal functionality, load balancing, and utilization trends.

  • Monitoring and management to ensure networks are protected from physical harm, viruses, unauthorized access, and other security threats.

  • Configuration and management of network firewall

  • Setup, configure, and maintain virtual server environments using VMware

  • Management of centralized storage devices including SAN and NAS storage.

  • Configure Cisco VoIP phones & network access

  • Configure network routers, switches, and wireless networking equipment for departmental operations, as well as isolated VLANs for special event needs.

  • Work with event promoters to determine networking needs for upcoming special events and coordinate billing for those services.

  • Configure and administer backup solutions

  • Setup, configuration, and management of Web servers (IIS, Apache, etc.), to include certificate management

  • Ability to rapidly troubleshoot network problems and determine optimal solutions to ensure minimal downtime and impact upon end-users.

Additionally, this position serves as the supervising manager of the other Computer Services (IT) staff members.  This position oversees our help desk support team, our application programming team, and our web development and hosting operation (supporting UNLVtickets.com, thomasandmack.com, other internal websites, and websites hosted for outside clients).

Finally, this position is responsible for establishing overall goals, budgets, policies, and processes for the Computer Services (IT) department.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited college or university or an educational equivalency ratio of 1:1 and a minimum of three (3) years of related professional experience.  In addition, applicants must possess experience with the following:
