Position Summary

The University of Southern Indiana is accepting applications for Network Analyst.

The Network Analyst is responsible for installing and maintaining university network systems. This position works under direct guidance of more experienced Network Administrators, supporting a subset of the complex campus network infrastructure. This position supports end users for all networking issues, and assists Telecomm and Network Technicians as necessary with cabling installations and network closet maintenance.

Duties/Responsibilities 

  • Supports the network hardware and systems listed below.
    • Network switches
    • Network management systems and tools
    • Wi-Fi access points and controllers
    • Active Directory: shares and printers
    • Printers and Print Servers: queues, drivers, configs
  • Installs, configures, and updates assigned network hardware.
  • Conduct routine network monitoring and diagnostics.
  • Resolve help desk tickets including installation and configuration of networking equipment and troubleshooting and identification of networking problems. Provide in person support related to networking or connectivity issues.
  • Troubleshoot end user connectivity issues. Identify the causes of networking problems, using diagnostic testing software and equipment.
  • Collaborate with other team members within Information Technology.
  • Serve as on-call weekend/evening support for computer server operations and troubleshooting.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or computer information systems or related field with minimum one year related experience; or equivalent combination of education and / or experience.
  • Experience administering network hardware and software including Cisco and Juniper technologies.
  • Working knowledge of microcomputers and office productivity software.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently using sound judgment in technical knowledge and problem solving.
  • Attention to detail and timely follow up skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and professional manner dealing with faculty, staff, students, and vendors.

Regular Work Hours/Travel Requirements


  • Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm.
  • Occasional off-hours or irregular hours required including routine computer server maintenance and /or unexpected computer server outages.
  • On-call availability to ensure computer servers are available at all time. Primary contact for 24-hour emergency server response.
  • Occasional travel may be required for vendor training or to other institutions
