Job Summary:

This position will be responsible for providing operational coordination for the work of the Native Nations UW initiative (https://news.wisc.edu/native-nations_uw-madison-working-group-embarks-on-phase-2-of-multi-year-initiative/ ). Working alongside campus colleagues, this position will also contribute to and help advance conversations about NNUW strategic priorities and monitor and shape communications regarding progress towards those priorities. Native Nations UW (NNUW) embodies the university's ongoing commitment to establishing and sustaining meaningful, long-term relationships between the university and the 12 First Nations of Wisconsin and, on the basis of those relationships, offering activities and opportunities on campus that reflect and advance knowledge for and about Indigenous peoples in Wisconsin. The initiative draws on the work of several committees interacting with faculty, staff and students across multiple divisions. The NNUW administrative coordinator will work collaboratively to help facilitate the work of NNUW committees; build and maintain connections between and among those committees and with campus leadership, faculty, staff and students; and assist in the strategic planning, implementation, and assessment of NNUW programming, including coordinating communication about NNUW activities and events.
The Native Nations UW Administrative Coordinator:
1. Collaborates with the Director of Tribal Relations and the Indigenous Education Coordinator to monitor progress toward NNUW goals, helps shape recommendations to campus leadership regarding NNUW strategic priorities, and facilitates communication to campus and external stakeholders about NNUW.
2. Provides operational support for NNUW Initiative, including scheduling meetings, facilitating communication between committees, ensuring proper processing of funding requests and purchasing, and maintaining records.
3. Helps raise campus awareness of and participation in NNUW efforts by working with NNUW committees and units across campus to track events and maintain an accurate calendar.
4. Supports and enhances networking and coordination among NNUW participants and with campus partners, including faculty, staff and students.
5. Supports and facilitates communication between NNUW and campus leaders by assisting with the collection and sharing of data and information through both written reports and regular meetings.
The NNUW coordinator will report to the senior vice provost for academic affairs; will work closely with the NNUW co-chairs; and will regularly collaborate with the Director of Tribal Relations and the Indigenous Education Coordinator in the Division for Teaching and Learning.


Responsibilities:
Manages a program and/or programmatic activities. Initiates, develops, and implements operational services that support a defined project, program, work unit, or function to advance program goals and objectives. May supervise staff and/or approve unit expenditures.
  • 15% Plans, implements, executes, and evaluates existing strategies and objectives for a program and makes recommendations to unit leadership for program or function enhancement
  • 15% Identifies workflow needs, contributes to the development of strategic and operational solutions, allocates resources, and implements new or revised unit operational policies and procedures
  • 25% Schedules logistics and secures resources for program activities across multiple work units to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures, and specifications
  • 15% Leads the development and preparation of periodic reports and financial statements, and records progress, status, or other special reports for leadership or external agencies
  • 5% May assist in the development and monitoring of the unit or program budget and approve unit expenditures
  • 5% Contributes to the preparation of proposals for funding and/or funding continuation from outside sponsors
  • 20% Other related duties, as assigned

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $60,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications
The expected salary range for this position is $60,000-$65,000. Actual pay will depend on experience and qualifications.
