Job Summary

Education Support Services (ESS) provides world-class audiovisual and instructional support, event and media production, training, and consulting services to faculty, staff, and students in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS). The team supports the school’s mission by delivering premium technology offerings that enhance and creatively advance the teaching & learning environment. ESS is comprised of six service groups: Teaching & Learning Support, Design & Engineering, Event & Media Production, Language Center, Assistive Technology Services, and Piano Technical Services.

This role is in ESS Teaching and Learning (T&L) Support, facilitating successful teaching and learning activities as well as providing multimedia-related services for events held in spaces supported by ESS.  The incumbent will need to perform complex technical work to support pedagogical events in classrooms and lecture halls, including setup, operation, and the use and care of multimedia equipment.


Position Description

  • Operates audio/video/data and additional projectors, classroom computers, assistive listening devices, Crestron operating and e-control systems, matrix, and routing switchers, image capture and annotation presentation technology, live streaming, a range of portable media equipment, video and audio recording systems, and sound reinforcement.
  • Helps to maintain multimedia equipment; in cooperation with T&L staff and Design & Engineering staff, diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and software.
  • Performs lecture capture and other recordings; participates in post-production in conjunction with the Digital Media Specialist as required to support the needs of faculty, students, and staff.
  • Assists the broader ESS team in providing services for courses and events.
  • Trains and assists faculty, staff, and others in setting up and operating classroom multimedia equipment.
  • In collaboration with team members, helps to produce support documentation, including planning and how-to’s for staff, faculty, and students.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent technical school
  • At least six months of experience with audio, video, and/or multimedia technologies
  • Working knowledge of computer hardware, software, and connections to external devices

Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • Technical school or audio-visual service training beyond high school preferred; college degree desirable;
  • Successful experience providing multimedia customer service in a fast-paced academic environment;
  • Knowledge of ITIL methodologies;
  • Proven ability to deliver professional customer service and manage multiple simultaneous work assignments;
  • Analytical and troubleshooting skills and the ability to identify and resolve technical process issues;
  • Effective interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
  • CTS certification; Crestron DMC-E; experience with Dante;
  • College background in related multimedia and /or technology preferred;
  • Ability to work with a range of constituents and to develop solutions to service problems in a client-friendly manner;
  • Knowledge of a range of computer software and operating systems is preferred.
  • Knowledge of streaming media platforms and basic video editing principles is preferred.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders and swiftly transport equipment across campus
