Reporting to the Design Manager, the Multimedia Graphic Designer will work on a team of graphic designers, media production staff, instructional designers, communication and web designers, and early learning education content specialists. This position will independently produce graphics and multimedia for Cultivate Learning’s multi-lingual workforce training materials, publicity campaigns, and print and web-based communications. This position will also be responsible for developing and implementing effective layout and graphic design for emerging virtual training environments.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

General Graphic Design –

• Design and layout for digital and print materials, including publications, brochures, promotional flyers, posters, programs, templates, forms, on-screen overlays, titles, and graphics for events.
• Create and edit complex InDesign documents for learning guides, facilitator’s manuals, training presentations, hand-outs, magazines, and other innovative professional development projects.
• Create and use existing PPT and Word templates for training materials and hand-outs for courses, in-person training workshops, and virtual learning platforms.
• Create illustrations, diagrams, and charts, while adhering to Cultivate Learning style guides.
• Enhance and manipulate photographs, including color correction and photo cut outs.
• Convert complex conceptual information and written material into informative visuals that effectively and simply convey key information.
• Review and edit print and digital material prepared by Cultivate Learning staff for accuracy of information and adherence to design standards.
• Use best practices for accessibility (508-compliance) when designing materials.
• Evaluate creative work being developed for Cultivate Learning, offering recommendations for improving quality, consistency, and usability.
• Stay current on the latest trends, issues, and advances in print and multimedia design. Learn and apply new methods, processes, and technologies as required.
• Make design decisions based on feedback cycles.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Graphic Design for Virtual Training Environments –

• Design layouts, banners, icons etc. for webinar and virtual event platforms like On24 and C-Vent.
• Design and format content focused materials, developed by presenters, to distribute through virtual and in-person training events.
• Create PowerPoint templates that can convert to Storyline templates for online training.
• Develop graphics overlays for use in video-based webinars and web series.

Multimedia Design –

• Develop animations, multimedia content, and other digital materials to enhance professional development and training materials.
• Record, edit, and format webinar files for posting on websites and other distribution platforms.
• Edit and format video clips for use in webinars and virtual training platforms.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual communications, multimedia design, or a similar field and 3-5 years experience working on a creative team or as a freelance artist.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Strong understanding of design principles for presentation and instructional design.
• Strong knowledge of accessibility requirements for digital and printed materials (including pdfs, Word, PowerPoint, and informational graphics).
• Experience producing graphics for materials in multiple languages.
• Demonstrated experience with the Adobe CS (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premier etc.).
• Advanced knowledge designing with PowerPoint and Word.
• Demonstrated ability to create press ready print files.
• Familiarity with webinar and virtual meeting platforms.

• Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to pivot in new directions based on the changing needs of the organization, the team, and the communities we work with.
• High level of accuracy designing diverse types of materials.
• Portfolio of work samples

DESIRED EXPERIENCE

• MA or MFA in graphic design or multimedia arts.
• Biliteracy in Spanish or Somali languages.
• Familiarity with Instructional Design.
• Experience building templates and interactives in Storyline.
• Experience with On24 webinar broadcast platform.
• Experience with C-Vent event management software.
• Familiarity with higher education course development.
• Experience in a higher education setting.
• Familiarity with early learning in Washington State and/or nationally.
