Job Summary/Basic Function

The Office of Multicultural Services and Programs seeks a Student Assistant to assist with departmental operations, program implementation, and student organization support for our resource centers. The five resource centers include:; ; International Student Resource Center; La Casita Student Resource Center; LGBTQ+ Student Resource Center; Veteran’s Resource Center; Women’s Resource Center; ; Student assistants will engage in the planning of programs, events, and workshops designed to foster inclusivity and sense of belonging while also promoting intercultural responsiveness/competence. A position within the Office of Multicultural Services and Programs (MSP) entails general office tasks, opportunities to give floor tours, oversee a functional area, and the chance to collaborate closely with our professional staff.

Work Schedule
MSP is open Mondays through Thursdays from 8am-6pm and Fridays from 8am-4:30pm. Evenings and some weekends will be available due to programming.

Job Duties


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Carry out designated opening and closing procedures.
  • Welcome students, staff/faculty, and guests when they visit the floor.
  • Maintain the space to ensure the resource centers are accessible to all students.
  • Regularly check in with graduate assistants and complete assigned tasks.
  • Fulfill tasks assigned by the Director, which may include transporting documents and more.
  • Act as a liaison between MSP and student organizations.
  • Select and oversee a functional area (e.g., graphic design, marketing, programming, education, operations, and more).
  • Assist with MSP events taking part in set up, check-in, implementation, and clean up as assigned.
  • Stay well-informed about the resource centers, disseminating necessary information to students.
  • Demonstrate a professional attitude that reflects the mission and goals of MSP and Indiana State University as a whole.
  • Show punctuality by arriving on time during shift hours.
  • Hold weekly meetings with Graduate Assistants to discuss programming for the resource centers.
  • Engage in diversity and inclusive training sessions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
