Description
We are seeking a MS student to work with a growing group of collaborators to assess and improve aquatic connectivity in South Carolina. The project will involve conducting field-based assessments of potential stream barriers in relation to stream fish communities, and will have space for the student to develop their own research questions in that line of inquiry. The student will work in close collaboration with individuals from state, regional, and federal agencies, as well as nongovernmental agencies and public stakeholder groups. The project will begin spring semester 2023.
Qualifications
Candidates must have: • A bachelor’s degree in fisheries, ecology, biology, or equivalent • Competitive practical experience in fish/freshwater research • Demonstrated excellence in written, verbal, and quantitative skills • GPA scores sufficient for admission into the Clemson Graduate School Ideal candidates will have some combination of experience in: • Working in streams • Backpack/barge electrofishing • Fish ecology • Working with biologists from agencies and other groups • Analysis using R software, GIS, etc. • Scientific writing and communication To apply, please send application packets to Brandon Peoples ([email protected]) with the subject “Graduate Application”.
