50% of time spent supporting patient screening and preparation for MRI exams
Independently:
* Assists technologists and nursing staff in direct/indirect patient care responsibilities including lifting/assisting patients onto and off of the examining table ensuring patient’s safety and comfort and ensuring efficient room turnover.
* Assists technologists and nurses in the collection of patient information relevant data tracking of orders and images in the information systems.
* Meets established standards for maintenance and control of equipment and for cleanliness of general service areas.
* Exhibits a professional courteous and positive demeanor at all times toward patient, staff and patient’s family utilizing appropriate age specific standards and customer service.
* Ensure MRI screening process complete
* Ensure patient is properly prepped for MRI scan
* Effectively communicates with floor nurses, HUCS, etc.
* If LPN, CMA or EMT trained and certified – IV access according to standard procedure.
* Follows established standards to obtain patient supplies and maintain supply inventories.
Under direct supervision of a registered MRI technologist:
* Assists in performing quality assurance checks on equipment and procedure areas.
* Ensures proper safety standards are met.
* Assists in operating required equipment necessary to produce scans using established guidelines and MRI protocols.
* Properly identifies and explains procedure to patient.
* Observe and assist registered MRI technologist inject contrast per radiologist direction or standard protocol.
* Assists in Preparing and positioning patient for procedure by using established MRI protocols to achieve the highest quality image.
* In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Position Compensation Range: $18.37 - $28.47 HourlyMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Associate's Degree preferred; Successful completion of formal coursework in anatomy and physiology required; Sound knowledge of medical terminology; Demonstrate written and verbal communication skills.
Experience: One year of radiology experience as a licensed practical nurse (LPN), or certified medical assistant (CMA) preferred. Emergency medical tech (EMT), or radiology clinical associate (RCA) considered,
Licensure/Certification: LPN or CMA certification preferred. EMT certification considered.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50 - 100lbs. May be exposed to cold, dust, noise, radiation, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
