Summary

The Department of Molecular Virology and Microbiology is an international leader in virology and microbiome sciences with 44 faculty members. The department is home of the Alkek Center for Metagenomics and Microbiome Research, whose mission is to advance microbiome sciences with translation from the bench to the bedside a cornerstone of the center. 

 

Currently, the Molecular Virology and Microbiology is seeking an Assistant Professor to conduct research on the role of the microbiome in ocular surface health. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or M.D. with five years of postdoctoral experience. The ideal candidate will have experience in flow cytometry, tissue culture, cultivating anaerobic and aerobic bacterial strains, and working with murine models of disease. Past experience with microbial ecology tools to analyze microbiomes as is experience with RNAseq analysis is preferred. State of the art microbiome sequencing facilities, microbial cultivation technology and flow cytometry facilities are available at BCM.
