Position Description:

Two postdoctoral positions will be available on or after November 2021 (with an initial two-year duration) in the laboratory of Dr. Carlos M. Guardia, Placental Cell Biology Group, National Institute of Environmental Health Science (NIEHS), National Institutes of Health (NIH), Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, USA. Dr. Guardia’s laboratory focuses on the molecular mechanisms that control placenta development and function, with a strong focus on autophagy, intracellular trafficking, and hormones and extracellular vesicles secretion. In addition, the laboratory studies the pathogenesis of diseases resulting from dysfunction of these mechanisms, particularly preeclampsia. Qualifications:

The position is open to individuals with a PhD degree and less than 5 years of postdoctoral experience. The successful applicant will be expected to lead their own projects as well as to contribute to collaborative research efforts in the laboratory and to have a strong publication record, including first author papers in peer reviewed journals. Experience with animal (mouse) manipulation, standard cell and molecular biology techniques is required. Experience with recombinant protein production and purification, proteomics, CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing, whole-genome KO screens, viral vectors, advanced microscopy and imaging techniques, transgenic and KO mice, and flow cytometry is strongly preferred.
