Mobile Dental Clinic Driver

This is a full time, fixed term (6-month) employment with the possibility of becoming permanent or getting an extension depending on performance.

Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC, Dental Public Health & Pediatric Dentistry is looking for a Mobile Dental Clinic Driver to join its team! This person coordinates the organization and delivery of services to mobile dental van clinic site visits and other Office of Community Oral Health program sites. Performs varied clinical and administrative duties and ensures compliance with established policies and procedures.

Job Accountabilities:

  • Class A license required.
  • Drives university vehicles and transports equipment and staff to clinic sites, as needed.
  • Participates in vehicle set ups and tear downs to prepare for each move.
  • Coordinates and schedules locations and facility needs for remote clinics.
  • Ensures cleanings for vehicles, inside and out.
  • When at home site, performs administrative duties
  • Helps in the arrangements of repair and/or replacement of clinic equipment and maintenance of vehicles.
  • Maintains, orders and keeps accurate and adequate inventories of clinic and office supplies, as needed
  • Participates in the team effort to maintain accuracy and integrity of clinical documents including that of patients.
  • Is engaged in data entry of clinical activities and providing reports.
  • When at away sites, opens and closes the vehicles each day, ensures operation of generators and trouble shoots equipment problems that arise.
  • Assists with administrative support duties as needed including patient registration, scheduling, problem resolution.
  • May be engaged in preparing, maintaining, and distributing adequate supplies of patient materials.
  • Willing to learn about dental instrument management & sterilization through in-house training.
  • May be engaged in dispensing dental materials and instruments, as required and/or cleaning and sterilizing instruments and prepping treatment areas.
  • Performs transportation, set up and operational support for other Community Health Programs such as health fairs, local clinic operations, etc.
  • Ensures compliance with all university and state policies and procedures, including HIPPA.

Minimum Education: High school or equivalent
Minimum Experience: 1 year
Minimum Field of Expertise: Class A license required. Will be required to take in-house CPR/BLS training once hired, demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse environment.

Preferred Field of Expertise: General knowledge about vehicles; willingness to learn about dental clinical equipment, bilingual skills in English and Spanish.

The hourly rate range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.


Minimum Education: High school or equivalent Minimum Experience: 1 year Minimum Field of Expertise: Must have current CPR, and BLS certificate. Demonstrated strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse environment. Bilingual skills in English and Spanish.
