HARBORVIEW MEDICAL CENTER SOCIAL WORK has an outstanding opportunity for a FULL-TIME MOBILE ADVOCATE SOCIAL WORKER (Day Shifts) in support of the HARBORVIEW ABUSE AND TRAUMA CENTER.

This position provides direct support and advocacy services to primary and secondary victims of sexual assault. The incumbent will also coordinate with the legal, medical, and community-based systems to ensure continuity of care, and work closely with the HATC medical and counseling teams to ensure timely and culturally responsive services are provided. Service provision will be provided remotely and in person, and this position may be a hybrid work from home and office.

The Harborview Abuse and Trauma Center (HATC) is accountable to a variety of community funding and governmental entities, as well as to HMC. The combined programs have medical, counseling, prevention, training, research and evaluation, and Foster Care Assessment (FCAP) services, with 65 staff including physician faculty, SANE nurses, social work/counseling, prevention, training, and support positions. Under the supervision of the Assistant Director Health Services / Clinical Supervisor, the Social Worker performs a variety of duties exercising independent decision making based on practice experience in the unit.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Direct Victim Service Responsibilities:
• Provide trauma-informed, survivor-centered information, crisis intervention, legal, medical, and general advocacy, support, and referrals to survivors of interpersonal violence.
• Provide crisis intervention to victims/family members over the phone and in person.
• Provide assessments and brief interventions to victims and their families.
• May provide case management and system navigation
• Demonstrate an understanding and commitment to addressing systemic oppression in serving diverse populations. Actively engages in agency-wide Diversity, Anti-Racism, Equity, and Inclusion practices and strives for racially equitable outcomes
• Develop ongoing relationships internally and with external health providers, law enforcement, and other social service providers to provide effective and timely continuity of care for primary and secondary survivors.

Community Partnerships:
• Be aware of and update HATC community resources relevant to meet survivor needs
• Work in partnership with City of Seattle and community-based advocates to ensure survivors are getting timely and helpful advocacy services regarding their involvement in the criminal justice system
• Attend the King County Networking Meetings and other community meetings via web-based platforms or in person as indicated.

Other Duties as Assigned:
• Responsibility for timely and accurate documentation and entry into appropriate data entry systems
• Will meet primary and secondary survivors in the community and may need to drive own vehicle
