Responsibilities
Under the general supervision of the Campus Architect/Director of Design and Construction, the Minor Capital Program Manager will oversee a program delivering 40 to 60 construction projects a year to the Northridge campus. The Program Manager will serve as Facilities Planning’s liaison to campus end-users for a diverse portfolio of projects. The position performs project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and oversight of design and construction for a wide range of small capital campus construction and renovation projects. The incumbent manages the Minor Capital Program that is delivered through CSU’s Job Order Contract (JOC) program. Job responsibilities include the following:
• Work directly with administrative and academic campus clients to develop scopes of work, budgets, and schedules for a variety of project types including but not limited to tenant improvements, infrastructure projects, fire alarm and fire sprinkler projects, landscaping, improvements to athletics facilities, signage, and audio/visual upgrades.
• At any given time, the Minor Capital Program Manager is likely to have 3 to 4 projects in planning and/or design, 2 to 3 projects in construction, and 3 to 4 projects in closeout. Projects range in size from mostly $100-$750k but occasionally can be as large as $2 million.
• Work on high-profile donor projects with time-sensitive deadlines. Typically these include signage installations, art installations, and tenant improvements.
• Tenant improvements can include but are not necessarily limited to: new configurations of offices/classrooms, audio/visual upgrades, new/upgraded finishes, furniture installations, office, classroom and teaching laboratory renovations, and remodeling or installing of new advanced research laboratories.

Qualifications
• Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Construction Management, or related field such as Engineering or Planning. Master’s degree preferred.
• Equivalent to five years of progressively responsible professional/administrative experience; with 2 of the five years in a managerial role preferred.
• Six years' experience in project planning, design, development, construction management, or capital program management is preferred.
• Experience working in an institution of higher education in planning, design and construction is also preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Leadership
• Demonstrated experience managing design and construction projects.
• Strong negotiating skills, creative and innovative problem solving, strong budgetary management skills, excellent communication skills (written and oral), and the ability to collaborate.
• Ability to multi-task and juggle multiple projects at once, skillful in developing relationships and working with disparate types of clients and departments, and able to execute a wide variety of projects.
• The nature of the work requires good judgement, dedication to efficient and effective project management, dilegence, diplomacy, creativity, and resourcefulness, and the ability to adhere to deadlines.
• Lead diverse teams to support the operational mission and vision of employers by fostering an ethical, inclusive and collegial work environment.
• Demonstrated ability to support ongoing improvement through courageous, resilient, and catalytic leadership.
• Lead varying initiatives through a collaborative, service-oriented and communicative approach.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
• Salary is commensurate with knowledge, skills, and experience. The University offers excellent fringe benefits.
• The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $110,000 to $121,000 , dependent upon qualifications and experience.
