Summary of Job Duties:

The Milk Lab Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the milk lab. The manager will complete daily assignments for milk lab staff and assist with daily function of the milk lab. The Manager will be able to perform the duties of the Milk Lab Tech, Milk Lab Clerk, and Milk Lab Nutritionist as needed. The Milk Lab Manager will maintain par levels of donor breast milk. The manager will submit weekly orders and will maintain stock levels of all needed supplies. The Milk Lab Manager will report directly to the NICU RD Coordinator.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree PLUS Two (2) years supervisory experience or Two (2) years of healthcare experience OR Associate's Degree PLUS Four (4) years supervisory experience or Four (4) years of healthcare experience OR High School / GED PLUS Six (6) years supervisory experience or Six (6) years of healthcare experience.

  • Knowledge of Breastfeeding and lactation programs

  • Possess food preparation certification

  • PCQI certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Have a familiarity with Workday


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees completion of daily milk preparation.

  • Places orders for supplies as needed. Ensures that all records are maintained for milk usage, recipes, and temperature logs.

  • Supervises daily milk lab operations.

  • Ensures milk is prepared and delivered according to physicians orders.

  • Assists NICU Dietitian Coordinator with annual policy and procedure reviews.

  • Assists in developing solutions to problems.

  • Develops and implements performance improvement projects.

  • Develops and monitors CQI measures for the Milk lab.

  • Communicates with doctors, nurses, and dietitians to clarify orders as needed. Communicates with parents as needed regarding milk supply.

  • Refers caregivers to lactation consultant as needed.

  • May perform other duties as assigned.
