Job Description

Position Description: Under the direction of the Assistant Director of the Transfer and Military Success Center, the Military Admissions Recruiter/Advisor provides recruitment support for the military-connected community of prospective students. The Military Admissions Recruiter/Advisor will also assist with transfer recruitment in support of the center’s operations. A successful candidate must possess excellent public-speaking and interpersonal skills in order to promote Fort Hays State University to a diverse population. Must have the ability to work with multiple campus constituents. Must possess the ability to learn new software programs.

Minimum Qualifications: Qualified candidates should have a bachelor’s degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior military service
  • Experience working with military-connected student population
  • Experience working with non-traditional/transfer student populations
  • Experience with student academic advising
  • Experience with higher education recruitment

Appointment Date:  Start date to be determined after acceptance of an offer and completion of criminal background check.

Responsibilities:

  • Enhance and develop strategic recruitment and communication initiatives to increase military-connected student recruitment and decrease melt
  • Coordinate with the Admission and FHSU Online teams to promote continual growth of military and veteran students for the university
  • Create, coordinate, and implement a social media campaign integrated with other recruitment initiatives to utilize effective and affordable opportunities to market to military populations
  • Proactively consult with both newly admitted and prospective military students
  • Seek out opportunities for potential partnerships with military Educational Services Officers
  • Attend military education fairs (on posts, bases, and installations) on a regular basis
  • Assist with transfer recruitment events as needed
  • Mail promotional items and information about FHSU to Educational Services Officers as requested
  • Oversee all social media platforms pertaining to military-connected students
  • Coordinate with the Office of Strategic Communication to promote the Military Success program (print, social media, email campaigns, press releases, etc.)
