Job Description:

The Berry College Elementary and Middle School (BCEMS) invites applications for a middle school math/ science teacher to join the faculty beginning August 1, 2024. Primary responsibilities of the Middle Grades Science Teacher include planning and collaborating with other Middle-Grades teachers, student teachers, and college instructors utilizing a constructivist model of theory and practice; implementing a challenging curriculum with a focus on application and learning through discovery in a supportive and inclusive learning environment; supervising college student workers, student observers, and student teachers as part of the laboratory school setting; and communicating effectively with BCEMS students and families, colleagues, and college students. This is a full-time, salaried position from August 1st to May 31st. BCEMS is a private laboratory school on the Berry College campus and operates within the Charter School of Education and Human Sciences. A master teacher leads each class with supervised college-student classroom assistants. BCEMS provides its students, Berry College, and the community with a model of a safe, child-centered learning environment in which students fully develop their potential through a curriculum designed to magnify the education of the head, heart and hands. The school is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Georgia Accrediting Commission and is a member of the International Association of Laboratory Schools and the Georgia Independent School Association. 


Requirements:

Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree in middle grades or secondary education and a current Georgia Teaching Certificate in middle grades (4-8) or secondary (6-12) education. A master's degree is preferred. Candidates should have 3 years of classroom teaching experience.
