Summary of Job Duties:

The MidSOUTH IT Network and Systems Administrator reports directly to the Information and Technology (IT) Director while working with the Senior Network and System Administrator and the System and Network Administrator. The primary focus of this position will be installing, updating, and performing ongoing maintenance and scripting for ServiceNow or other Help Desk tools. The individual will assist in all aspects related to maintaining, troubleshooting, and planning the network infrastructure, server deployments and upgrades, and all MidSOUTH software applications. This individual will help with virus protection, backups, troubleshooting, future planning, and maintenance of numerous software applications. All MidSOUTH positions are funded through grants and/or contracts and are renewable annually, contingent on funding. State and federal laws and agency/institution policy govern this position.

Qualifications:

    Required Education and/or Experience:

    • Associate degree in relevant major; plus two (2) years of help desk experience.

    Preferred Education and or Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant major with two (2) years of relevant help desk experience.

    Job Duties and Responsibilities:

    Customer Service and Troubleshooting:

    • Implement solutions to resolve assigned help desk tickets; communicate solutions to other MidSOUTH IT staff and the staff person making the help request;
    • Knowledge of and experience with ServiceNow, specifically creating and managing workflows;
    • Work with staff to translate business requirements into information systems;
    • Participate in meetings and conferences of professional organizations;
    • Maintain MidSOUTH’s Active Directory, Group Policy, email, and telecommunication systems;
    • Maintain, update, and troubleshoot business software and updates across MidSOUTH’s statewide network; maintain and oversee camera, recording equipment, and software to ensure MidSOUTH can provide training that meets our contract deliverables and requirements;
    • Knowledge of and experience in troubleshooting common IT issues, including good customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively.

    Development and Maintenance:

    • Responsible for working with the team members to consult in the development, maintenance, and administration of ServiceNow, including workflows, automation, and development of best practices;
    • Maintain contact with UA Little Rock computing services regarding MidSOUTH’s domain and ensure the daily performance of applications and network systems;
    • Label and document data communication lines, hardware, and software configurations, at the direction of the IT Director or Senior Network and System Administrator.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Knowledge of IT help desk practices;
    • Knowledge of general computing applications;
    • Knowledge/experience with Windows servers;
    • Knowledge of Aruba networking equipment;
    • Knowledge of virtual meeting software(zoom) and best practices;
    • Experience purchasing IT equipment, especially from Dell;
    • Experience supporting users of virtual meetings;
    • Proficient in virtualization technologies;
    • Excellent writing, verbal, customer service, and organizational skills;
    • Troubleshooting/problem-solving skills;
    • Ability to assist with generating quotes, submitting purchase requisitions, tracking orders, receiving deliveries, and tracking assets;
    • Ability to work well both independently and as a part of a team;
    • Ability to work outside of normal working hours;
    • Ability to travel in the state and overnight.

    Salary Information:


    $43,500 - $48,000
