Job Summary

The Purdue Applied Research Institute (PARI) and Purdue University are experiencing rapid growth in multiple areas of microelectronics research.  Through our partnerships with NSWC Crane, DARPA, imec, and other government and industry partners, we plan to be at the center of microelectronics research for the heartland.  PARI is thus seeking researchers in the field of microelectronics to support these efforts.  PARI is soliciting candidates from entry-level to senior level to support research endeavors based at both at Crane, IN and on the Purdue University Campus in West Lafayette, IN.  These are positions fully funded by sponsored research and will not be faculty positions.

 

The successful candidates will play a pivotal role in our research and development efforts, contributing to the design, fabrication, characterization, and packaging of novel microelectronic devices and circuits. As a Research Engineer at PARI, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation, solve complex technical challenges, and develop state-of-the-art microelectronics technologies.  PARI is seeking research engineers that can lead or support research in multiple areas of advancing the state of the art in microelectronics.  These areas include research into increasing the operational temperatures of microelectronics, predicting the reliability and assurability of microelectronics, developing training courses and web based applications to enhance the microelectronics workforce, policy research into non-ITAR electronics for international partner collaboration, wafer transfer and assurance to enable multi-facility processing, and other areas as defined by upcoming research programs.   Candidates with recent and relevant experience in one or more of these areas will be most successful.  Exceptional candidates with cross-cutting experience across multiple areas may be considered for program leadership roles.

 

This position represents multiple vacancies. Based on the candidate, this position will either be:

  • Located in WestGate at Crane, in Odon, IN,  working on-site at WestGate OR
  • Located at Purdue’s main campus in West Lafayette, IN, working on-site. 
     

Required:

  • Terminal degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or related fields with a focus on microelectronics
  • Entry-level candidates with a BS degree and five (5) years of experience will be considered
  • Salary and responsibilities will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience
  • Candidates must be able to obtain a Secret or Top Secret security clearance to be considered for this position. Maintaining this clearance is a continuous condition of employment. Failure to obtain or retain the required clearance may result in termination.
  • US Citizenship is a requirement to be fully considered for this position.
  • Demonstrated expertise in semiconductor fabrication processes, including lithography, deposition, etching, and material characterization
  • Strong background in microelectronics device and circuit design, including familiarity with CAD tools and simulation software
  • Experience in testing and characterizing microelectronic devices using state-of-the-art equipment and measurement techniques
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex technical concepts effectively

 

Preferred:

  • Candidates with post-graduate degrees and related experience
  • Experience working in a laboratory research environment 
  • Active Secret security/TS security clearance
