Job Description

Texas A&M University - Texarkana will be pursuing an aggressive program growth agenda over the next five (5) years which includes the addition of a Master of Healthcare Administration program. The MHA Program coordinator will be responsible for the continued development and implementation of our MHA degree program including, but not limited to, curriculum, practice partnerships, and national accreditation. The appointment will be for a 12-month full-time faculty member with administrative assignment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop the new Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) program.
  • Teach courses in the MHA online program.
  • Student advisement as assigned.
  • Active participant in program development, renewal, and revision
  • Perform appropriate levels of service within the university, region, and/or with regional/national healthcare entities.
  • Work with the Dean and Director of Nursing to develop collaborative relationships with local and regional healthcare entities.
  • Able to seek and participate in independent and/or collaborative extramurally funded projects and research.

Program Coordinator—Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee the curricular content of the program/Assist with annual program/curriculum review/assessment/accreditation.
  • Assist Department Chair with scheduling for the program.
  • Coordinate program adjunct faculty
  • Assist with gathering program budget requests for Department Chairs
  • Coordinate with Advising team to ensure 2-year program schedule is relayed to FTIC and transfer students; coordinate faculty advising with program colleagues.
  • Prepare faculty forms as needed to initiate catalog or course additions, changes, or deletions for program.
  • Chair or serve on search committees for new program faculty.
  • As time and budgets permit, promote enrollment in programs on campus and in wider communities.
  • Maintain program memberships or affiliations with relevant professional associations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES :

Minimum Qualifications-Assistant Professor Rank

  • Terminal degree: Ph.D., DHA, or DNP with 18 graduate hours in healthcare administration
    • ABD will be considered but the terminal degree must be awarded by time of appointment
  • At least 2 years healthcare administration practice experience or related healthcare experience

Minimum Qualifications-Associate Professor Rank

  • Terminal degree: Ph.D., DHA, or DNP with 18 graduate hours in healthcare administration
  • At least 5 years of higher education experience
  • Record of scholarly work and publications
  • Record of service to university, community, and region
  • Record of higher education teaching excellence

Preferred Qualifications-both ranks

  • Experience using Canvas or similar LMS
  • Experience teaching in program and curriculum development.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience teaching at the graduate level
  • Experience in national accreditation for educational programs

Other Requirements

  • Ability to travel and work beyond normal office hours.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
