The Well is UC Riverside's health promotion department focused on student holistic well-being, housed within the Health, Well-being, and Safety Organization. The Mental Health Promotion Specialist will perform highly skilled and complex work, planning, implementing, and evaluating evidence-based health promotion strategies, and advocating for well-being policies/practices in their topic areas, programs, and services for University of California Riverside students. Programmatic elements include training and educational workshops aimed at decreasing the stigma associated with seeking mental health services and increasing awareness, intervention, referral, and help-seeking behaviors. The Mental Health Promotion Specialist will also play a leadership role in planning, developing, implementing, evaluating, and reporting on multifaceted, campus-wide mental health education and promotion efforts as part of The Well and the UCR's Health Well-being and Safety Organization. This includes, but is not limited to, presentations, lectures, campaigns, awareness week events, workshops, training programs, and special events for the University community, based on identified needs. The Mental Health Promotion Specialist will also be responsible for overseeing a peer group and a graduate student, including student staff hiring, supervision, and training, managing a program budget, staying current on mental health trends and needs of college students, and researching evidence-based mental health promotion programs and best practices. In addition, The Mental Health Promotion Specialist in collaboration with Health Well-being and Safety will help support mental health equity initiatives including Mental Health Allies and Collective Impact Team efforts. The successful applicant will demonstrate their high level of understanding of mental health and psychological services but also demonstrate their knowledge of connecting with students who identify as historically underrepresented BIPOC students, African Diaspora, API, Latinx, international, first-generation, undocumented, veterans, students with disabilities, graduate students and LGBTQI+ communities as examples and working from a healthy equity/JEDI lens.

A presentation will be required as a part of this interview process.

The full salary range for the Mental Health Promotion Specialist is $64,300 - $114,300 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $73,000 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.
