Job Description

Position Description: The Kelly Center is seeking a 12-month entry-level position as a Mental Health Counselor/Therapist. This position will provide personal counseling for FHSU students, faculty and staff.  This position will also provide campus-wide outreach services in promoting positive mental health on campus.  A successful candidate should have the ability to develop strong working relationships with diverse communities and interact effectively with the campus community regarding mental health issues. We encourage women and underrepresented minorities to consider this opportunity.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in counseling or related mental health field required.
  • License or license-eligible within professional field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with a young adult population.
  • Professional experience within the counseling field. 
  • Experience with crisis management.
  • Experience providing presentations and working within a team. 
  • Excellent writing and computer skills as evidenced by application documents.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide counseling services to FHSU students, faculty, and staff. 
  • Provide overall care assessment, crisis intervention services, and community referrals.
  • Assist with campus-wide outreach and prevention programming. 
  • Maintain records and documentation of clinical services, in compliance with law, ethics and best practices.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and training activities.  Pursue professional development related to the responsibilities of the position and profession.
  • Participate in Student Affairs’ staff meetings and serve as a member of various Student Affairs’ committees. 
  • Other duties as assigned.
