Lawrence University is seeking a Men’s and Women’s Fencing Assistant Coach. The Assistant Coach is responsible to the Head Coach for assisting in all aspects of the Men’s and Women’s Fencing program. Responsibilities include recruiting, coaching, developing, motivating, and evaluating academically and athletically qualified student-athletes all in compliance with NCAA and Lawrence University policies and procedures.
Lawrence University is a member of the NCAA Division III, Midwest Conference, Northern Collegiate Hockey Association, and Central Collegiate Fencing Conference. Lawrence fields teams in 24 intercollegiate sports with approximately 325+ scholar-athletes and is committed to a well-balanced program promoting excellence in both academics and athletics.

Responsibilities:
· Take the lead role in design and implementation of epee squad training. Create footwork, bladework and tactical drills in accordance with season goals and developmental appropriateness of athletes.
· Travel with the team and provide positive, actionable strip coaching. 
· Provide individual lessons in epee and foil.
· Engage in goals meetings and individual meetings with athletes at least twice per season.
· Assist with the planning and administration of team travel, recruiting, budget, student-athlete eligibility, and academic progress.
· Cooperate with the University Athletic Trainers to ensure student-athletes receive proper medical and physical training services.
· Engage in alumni relations.
· Attend athletics department meetings and events.
· Participate in fundraising and community service efforts, as appropriate and assigned.
· Assist student workers with armory as needed.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of related coaching experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Specialization in epee with multiple weapon skills and/or internationally recognized coaching credentials preferred.
· Knowledge of season periodization and program planning preferred.
· International coaching experience preferred.
· Administrative experience preferred.
· Employment is contingent on successful completion of criminal record check, driving record check and reference checks.
