Position Summary:

The Medical Program Assistant provides administrative program support to the faculty and staff within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology related to clinical patient care, teaching, research service, outreach and other activities. Additionally, the Medical Program Assistant will provide necessary support for coordination of outpatient and inpatient provider services and may include working with electronic health management systems.
This position will coordinate complex daily activities for the physicians in all areas. Good judgment, along with the ability to communicate effectively and confidentially with patients, referring physicians, residents, fellows and program leader is required.
The candidate must have excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills. The ability to work at a variety of tasks, and to take initiative that supports the mission are essential skills. This position requires a person who can function independently with general supervision as well as with a team to ensure maximum effectiveness and efficiency of the program.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Required Experience:
- 6 months of experience providing administrative support. Relevant undergraduate work experience or internship experience is acceptable.
- Experience using Microsoft Office software, particularly Outlook for calendaring.
Preferred Experience:
- One year of experience providing administrative support in an office setting. Relevant undergraduate work experience or internship experience is acceptable.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations.
Desired Attributes:
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills and techniques.
- Ability to interact with a wide variety of internal and external contacts and patients.
- Ability to work independently and to problem-solve.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Ability to transition effectively between tasks to maximize efficient use of time.
