Description:

The incumbent reports to the HealthCare Administrator for Admitting who reports to Director of Revenue Cycle- Admitting, who reports to Associate Chief Financial Officer. Under general supervision, performs routine medical office functions, including registration and insurance verification, information services, patient payments, and assistance with performance improvement activities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs hospital reception duties, including the greeting and proper identification of patients.
  • Checks in patients; collects patient identification and insurance cards.
  • Verifies/updates patient’s demographic and insurance information.
  • Collects patient co-payments
  • Completes patient forms for signature (HealthCare Consent form, verification form and financial forms
  • Performs data entry of patient demographic and insurance information into the electronic health record (EHR) ensuring accuracy of data entered.
  • Operates office equipment such as copiers, fax machines and scanners.
  • Communicates routine information to the patient.
  • Complete/update registration errors in the Electronic Health Record/Work Queues
  • Provide guidance and knowledge share to new hires
  • Maintains clean office space and waiting room area conditions to meet IDPH work environment standards.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
