Position Summary Information
Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit | Campus Health (CH) is a multi-specialty ambulatory college health clinic providing quality, and affordable health care for eligible students and spouses. Annually, CH has more than 80,000 patient encounters, which includes Primary Care and Gynecology as well as specialty clinics in sports medicine, orthopedics, gynecology, physical therapy, counseling and psychological services, travel clinic, immunization clinic, and allergy clinic. Weekend acute care is provided from 8-5 PM. On site ancillary services include pharmacy, OTC pharmacy, Student Stores pharmacy, medical laboratory, and radiology. Campus Health has been continuously accredited since 1986 by the Joint Commission of Accreditation of Health Care Organizations. All personnel are trained in the concepts and principles of Performance Improvement and serve as team members and leaders in shaping and defining the organization as it strives to provide quality and safe care. Campus Health collaborates with Student Wellness and Campus Recreation and other Student Affairs partners to provide education and outreach to assist in keeping the campus population healthy. Education and research comprise another important function of CH. CH provides clinical rotations and practicums for students in the School of Education, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Social Work and Public Health, Department of Medical Technology, Physical Therapy, Occupational Health and Radiology. In addition, CH serves as a research site for a number of faculty and graduate student grants and contracts, where CH staff participates with the principal investigators across a variety of medical specialties. |

Position Summary | This position is eligible for a Sign On Bonus of $2,000 to be paid in two installment: - $ 1,000 within 30 days of your hire date and - $ 1,000 12 months after hire date Provides direct patient care, checks-in patients for clinical visit by obtaining vital signs and other data collection, performs basic lab tests including waived testing and phlebotomy, assists providers with contraceptive and gynecological procedures under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Physician in a college-health ambulatory care environment. Prepares medications and administers routine immunizations following routine medical assisting techniques and procedures and with a medical provider authorization. Maintains a safe patient care environment, performs routine clerical functions, transports patients, and records pertinent medical health information in the electronic health record. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements | Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Some positions may require registration as a Nurse Aide by the North Carolina Board of Nursing or certification through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA.) |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience | Completion of an approved Medical Assistant Program. Certification or Registration from an approved agency such as AAMA , AMT or other approved agency. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience | High School graduate. Six months related clinic/office work experience with experience assisting with GYN procedures. |
Required Licenses/Certifications | Certification or Registration from an approved agency such as AAMA , AMT or other approved agency. |
Special Physical/Mental Requirements | Ability to lift/move over 30 pounds with or without accommodation and transport patients within medical facility. |
