ROLE of the POSITION

The AAII Medical Front Office duties include but are not limited to:

Reception Duties and Customer Service: Acknowledge and greet patients, clients and visitors. Answer telephones, voice messages, emails, instant messages and assist with requests resulting from these inquiries. Provide patients, clients and guests with accurate general information about SW and its services. Monitor and control patient flow in/out of clinic. Enter and update patient/client data and insurance information into the electronic medical record system. Schedule appointments. Assist with patient check-in and portal registration, issues, concerns, and troubleshooting. Establish and maintains positive communication and relationships with UNLV employees, students, and general public.

Administrative Duties: Skillful use of office equipment (copy machine, computer, printer, fax, adding machine, telephone, credit card terminals). Distribute and manage mail and deliveries. Assist in printing reports and identify corrections needed, verify accuracy of, and update patient demographics in student, faculty/staff and dependent accounts. . Assist in other areas of Student Wellness with clerical and administrative support as needed upon request.

Patient Accounting, Financial Records and Protected Health Information Duties: Collect and post patient and insurance payments. Complete daily account and cash reconciliation, audits and reporting, identify and resolve any discrepancies. Verify service and insurance eligibility. Manage petty cash, cash sales and check logs. Process patient refunds. Complete, process and file daily deposits, logs and reports. Process and prepare patient billing, payment plans and statements. Verify accuracy of patient/client tickets during the check-out and billing process. Address patient/client billing inquiries. Assist with various account needs: insurance claim coding, processing and appeals, account updates to include but is not limited to identifying and addressing past due balances, write-offs/recoveries, account holds, payment plans, insurance & patient billing, insurance payment processing & posting, etc. Maintain confidentiality of patient protected health information as required by HIPAA requirements and in accordance with Student Wellness policy and procedure.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of clerical and administrative support experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintaining records and files; preparing a variety of materials using a personal computer or word processor; assisting customers in completing forms and applications; and/or performing secretarial duties in support of professional staff; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Worked in a healthcare facility/medical front office and/or medical billing department. Experience with account management, insurance coding, claims processing, billing and appeals. Knowledge and experience with account receivables, cash collections and reconciliation.

SALARY

Grade 25 Step 1, salary 34,305.84. "Step" means the number assigned by the Division of Human Resource Management to identify a specific rate of pay within a grade. Per Nevada Administrative Code (NAC 284.170), salaries for initial appointments for classified positions typically begin at Step 1.
