Detailed Position Information
The Department of Philosophy invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning fall 2024. AOS or AOC in Medical Ethics and the Philosophy of Medicine broadly construed. Ph.D. in philosophy should be completed by August 15, 2024. The philosopher hired will be expected to teach undergraduate courses, and support the development of, and teach in, a new Master’s program in Philosophy, Medicine and Ethics. There will also be opportunities to teach classes and mentor students in the McCollough Pre-medical Institute. Teaching competence is required in Medical Ethics and desired in Philosophy of Medicine (broadly construed). The University of Alabama is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer. Ph.D. in philosophy should be completed by August 15, 2024.
