POSITION SUMMARY:
A Medical Education Program Specialist performs specialized administrative work in support of a medical residency or medical clerkship program within a College of Medicine department at USF Health. This position provides administrative coordination for assigned graduate and post-graduate medical education programs, serving as a point of contact to students, prospective students, and faculty on matters related to course management and enrollment, program requirements, policies and procedures, scheduling and rotation issues, and other administrative matters.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinates with students/residents and faculty in adjusting and modifying individual schedules. Serves as liaison between students and faculty on a range of academic, administrative and personal issues.
Monitors and organizes student progress through the rotation to ensure educational objectives are being met. Initiates action where necessary to maintain academic standards of the clerkship/residency.
Advises students on curriculum, testing and associated requirements.
Plans and coordinates various events, such as orientation, receptions, in-service examinations, research day, match day, graduation. Manages logistics including location, room set up, A/V needs, ordering food, program planning, etc.
Coordinate and track departmental scholarly activities for residents, fellows, and core faculty. Prepare, submit, and comply with Institutional Review Board (IRB) requirements. Obtain CVs annually and maintain faculty directory.
Performs other administrative duties as assigned in support of the academic mission of the department.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with four years of experience in office or administrative positions. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
PREFERRED:
Bachelor's Degree preferred but not required. Knowledge of Academic Institutions involving medical students/residents/fellows.
SPECIAL SKILLS/TRAINING:
Must be able to do inquiries, queries and standard reports from GEMS, MD BANNER, Access or Excel; and produce documents using word processing and spreadsheet software.
