This recruitment may be used to fill multiple Medical Assistant openings with the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine. Position 1: Range Community Clinic Certified Medical Assistant

Summary of Duties:

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Medical Assistant Certified (MA-C) will join Range Community Clinic to be part of a world class interdisciplinary patient care team. This multidisciplinary team includes outstanding physicians, nurses, pharmacists and other allied health professionals and students to provide the best patient care, education and resources as possible.
Patient care will primarily be provided in community-based settings via the mobile healthcare unit, partnerships with community organizations and rural community locations. This position will travel for work purposes, sometimes overnight. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends may be required.

Required Qualifications:


Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the American Association of Medical Assistants or the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA);OR high school graduation or equivalent AND one year of experience providing direct patient care in a health care setting; OR equivalent education/experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must possess a current Washington license as Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Medical Assistant Certified (MA-C).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain valid Healthcare Provider CPR certification within 30 days of appointment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required vaccinations for healthcare workers exposed to patients as defined by the CDC, OR provide record of blood serum titre.
  • Ability to work independently, ensuring effective use of time including prioritization and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel extended distances in single/multiple day time spans.
  • Ability to exercise appropriate judgement in dynamic and changing situations.
  • Must have, and be able to maintain, a valid Washington State driver’s license.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years’ experience providing care direct patient care in a medical center, hospital, urgent care clinic, pre-hospital environment or other similar healthcare setting.
  • Experience working on a Mobile Medical Clinic.
  • Experience working in rural and under-served environments.
  • Experience with any or all the following activities: purchasing, supplies management, inventory, vehicle maintenance, coordinating staff/volunteers.
  • Experience in documenting and maintaining electronic medical records.
  • Experience in educating and administering vaccinations and medications.
  • Experience in preforming laboratory tests, procedures or treatments, such as nebulizer, blood sugar by finger sticks, electrocardiograms, spirometry and peak flows.
  • Experience with blood drawing as needed for lab testing and IV therapy.
  • Experience setting up for special procedures.
  • Experience in assisting with minor surgical procedures.


Position 2:
Pediatric Medical Assistant - Autism Spectrum Disorder and Neurodevelopmental Disorders Center of Excellence
Summary of Duties:

The Pediatric Medical Assistant (MA) works under the delegation of a licensed practitioner to perform duties as directed to assist in providing basic patient care to assigned patients. Basic patient care needs will be met though both administrative and clinical duties. An MA is expected to perform in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations.
The position will assist in caring for and supporting pediatric patients with Autism and other Neurodevelopmental Disorders in a multidisciplinary specialty clinic setting. This position will be in WSU Health Sciences Spokane, working with a multispecialty team under Range Community Health.

Our preferred candidate should demonstrate insight and understanding of the fears and anxiety of children under pediatric care and have compassion and empathy for families of children with special needs. They should have prior experience at a pediatric care facility and are capable members of a multispecialty team.

Required Qualifications:

Additional Requirements:

  • Hold or ability to obtain Washington Medical Assistant Certification.
  • Ability to obtain National Provider BLS – American Heart Association.
  • Experience with measuring and recording young patients’ vital health statistics.
  • Ability to monitor and efficiently communicate information about a patient’s condition.
  • Knowledge of standard healthcare practices and medical terminology.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to support and reassure pediatric patients and their families.
  • Ability to multitask and follow instructions given by healthcare professionals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Superior customer service skills; ability to perform role with a high level of professionalism.
  • Performing all duties in a manner which promotes team concept.
  • Demonstrate respect for diversity and show empathy for low-income populations and a desire to improve their health status.
  • Two or more years of working in the healthcare field; minimum 1-year pediatric experience.

Monthly Salary Range: Range 41: $3,321- 4,425 (Step A - M) | Successful candidates will be appointed within the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.

Hiring Incentive: Additional Hiring Incentive of up to $5,000 available; paid in accordance with WSU policy after 6 months of employment in the position.
