Medical Assistant, Float and LPN

Job Summary

As the medical assistant you will assists provider and nursing staff with implementation of patient care, following nursing and Clinic policies and procedures. Rooms patients, monitors and charts vital signs and historical data. Handles specimens. Completes requisitions, forms and reports. Participates in clinical huddles, staff meetings and quality improvement initiatives.  Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. Home base location will be in Monon, but will require travel to Wolcott as needed.  In limited circumstances, may also be required to travel to Burlington or Delphi.

 

The LPN will also supports the nurse practitioners in coordinating care at the clinics.  Performs patient intake, including health and developmental history, screening tests, collecting specimens and vital signs. Completes paperwork and electronic data entry ensuring accuracy in documentation of immunizations, patient encounters, and procedure forms. Ensures infection control standards are met.  Administers vaccines and other medications, including IM.  Collection of lab specimens, such as venipuncture, urine or stool while observing universal precautions.  Communicates with patients (phone, letters, in person).  Assists in scanning of documents and patient records into the EHR.  Assists registered nurses as needed and may delegate scope appropriate tasks to medical assistants. Travels between all clinics to provide support where needed; Rotating Saturdays required.

 


LPN Requirements:

  • Must have an Associate’s degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse from an accredited program and hold licensure in the state of IN as a LPN. 
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Licensure as required by the state of Indiana; Current CPR Certification;  Medication Certified, i.e. competency in administration of vaccines and other medications, such as IM injections, oral medications, and inhaled medications.  
  • Thorough knowledge of scientific principles of aseptic technique and general clinical practice.  
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and use of electronic health record.  
  • CPR certification required.
  • Must have computer and data entry skills.

 


Medical Assistant Requirements:
  • Graduation from an approved Medical Assistant program 
  • 1 year of prior medical assistant experience.  
  • Must show evidence of Indiana certification.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Thorough knowledge of scientific principles of aseptic technique and general clinical practice. 
  • Basic knowledge of medical language.   
  • CPR certification required.  
  • Must have computer and data entry skills.  

 

Preferred:

  • Fluent in English and Spanish
