THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN KNOXVILLE, TN.  

JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Medical Administrative Coordinator supports the Medical Admin Specialists, Business Manager, and Clinical Directors in the development, implementation, and oversight of clinical operations protocols. This position demonstrates expertise in all medical administrative responsibilities and provides direction to Medical Admin Specialists for improved effectiveness.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.      Provides education and training on new policies, protocols, and the program to Medical Admin Team.

2.      Maintains Electronic Medical Records (EMR) reporting systems.

3.      Answers phones, processes referrals, and schedules appointments.

4.      Works with insurance companies and other agencies to obtain benefit verification and prior authorizations for services and hearing aids/repairs.

5.      Orders all prescribed hearing aids from the manufacturer and enters information in a tracking database.

6.      Prepares paperwork for new patients and ensures it is updated annually for current patients.

7.      Develops written procedures for recurring tasks; maintains compliance with established standard operating procedures.  

8.      Performs regular auditing to ensure the accuracy of data entered into the EMR system.

9.      Supervises work-study students.

10.  Performs other duties as assigned.

 



Qualifications

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED. (Bachelor’s Degree preferred) (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years of experience in an office/clinic setting using an electronic medical record and/or accounting system; OR Associate’s Degree and two (2) years of experience in an office/clinic setting using an electronic medical record and/or accounting system; OR Bachelor's Degree and one (1) year of experience in an office/clinic setting using an electronic medical record and/or accounting system. (Previous experience in audiology or speech pathology setting preferred.)

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent computer skills including competency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Experience with computerized patient management or accounting systems.
  • Accuracy in typing and data entry.
  • Ability to read both printed and cursive writing.
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to maintain a friendly demeanor and exhibit tact and professionalism both in person and on the phone.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
