Mediation Training and Education Associate – Scheinman Institute

Position is located in Ithaca, NY, within the ILR School on the campus of Cornell University.

The School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University has an immediate opening for a Mediation Training and Education Associate - Extension Associate in the Scheinman Institute in the Extension/Outreach Division.

Our Team:

The Scheinman Institute on Conflict Resolution ( http://www.ilr.cornell.edu/scheinman-institute ) is the nation’s leading center for the study of workplace conflict resolution, engaging in a broad range of research, teaching, and outreach activities.

This position will provide support, research, and instruction with regard to classes and projects related to campus mediation, and dispute resolution in higher education more broadly.

Specific responsibilities include:

·Research regarding the Campus Mediation Program.

· Work with current students in the student campus mediation program to design new survey forms for collecting data, as well as creating a coding scheme for data collected.

·Work directly with the students in the campus mediation courses through instruction and as a mentor.

·Cultivate relationships with university partners, including, but not limited to, PSAC and the Dean of Students.

· Implement new collaborative programming in conjunction with PSAC, the Dean of Students, and other campus partners.

· Engage with and participate in series regarding dispute resolution in higher education.

·Work directly with program directors within the Scheinman Institute to design curriculum and instruct on and off campus programming.

·Engage with and assist in developing the Scheinman Institute Higher Education portfolio.

Extension Associate is a full-time, academic, non-tenure track, term position with an initial appointment through June 30, 2025. The position may be re-appointed based on recommendations by the Director and Senior Associate Dean for Outreach and Sponsored Research, as well as available funding and work.

What we need:

·Master’s degree in related subject matter expertise (industrial and labor relations, employment or labor law, human resources/management/business, organizational behavior/change, economics, workforce development, vocational rehabilitation, occupational medicine/workplace safety and health, education, diversity/inclusion).

·Minimum three years of experience in campus mediation.

·Demonstrated ability to design participatory curriculum. 

·Minimum of three years teaching related courses in college-level environment, conducting training to relevant target audience, and/or conducting research in the thematic content area.

·Demonstrated writing ability and scholarly record in the thematic content area (articles in peer-reviewed journals, articles in trade publications, research and project reports, informational brochures, policy briefs, training materials, etc.).

You will be a top candidate with our preferred qualifications:

·Minimum of one to three years demonstrated experience in large project management (e.g. several staff and budgets exceeding $500,000).

·Minimum of one to three years demonstrated experience in promoting thematic area program teaching, consultation, and research services to regional, state, or national networks through the use of in-person and virtual mediums.

·Demonstrated experience in leading teams and mentoring, coaching, and supervising teaching personnel.

·Professional credentials in disciplinary area, such as appropriate state and national licensure, certifications, etc.

·Minimum of one to three years demonstrated experience in successful grant writing and grant management.

ILR School provides a salary range of $69,500 to $72,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications.
