MEDIA ASSISTANT (AUDIOVISUAL/PHOTOGRAPHY ASSISTANT), Program in Art, Culture and Technology (ACT) (part-time, 20 hrs/wk.), to provide media instruction and support to ACT students and a wide range of audiovisual and technical support for ACT classes, programs, meetings, lectures, and special events. Will assist the media associate in running the program's Interform Editing Macintosh Lab, Sound Studio, Photo Darkroom, and Graduate Computer Lab; aid in managing equipment checkout and inventory, including digital video, photo, and audio equipment; and help users with department-owned facilities and software. Requirements include managing documentation for ACT classes; updating inventory for the program’s 1500 assets; providing media support to staff and students; assisting with management of darkroom and digital printing facilities; assisting with set up and operation of media equipment in ACT classroom, studio, and theater spaces; participating in sound or other checks needed to ensure the quality execution of events; providing audio and/or video documentation of events as needed; completing multimedia production tasks ranging from format conversions, DVD burning, photo editing, video editing, and other production needs; assisting with cleaning, storing, and maintaining equipment; and performing other duties as needed. Will report to and work in close collaboration with the media associate.
REQUIRED: interest in art or related field; strong organizational skills; excellent written and spoken communication skills; well-developed collaboration skills required; flexibility, adaptability, and responsiveness; basic working knowledge of audiovisual terminology, technologies, and concepts; willingness to learn about general technical aspects of media technologies (formal and on-the-job training support provided); experience with photography and video production and editing; comfort with Macintosh computer operating environments; and the ability to lift weights of up to fifty pounds.
