With more than 2,300 faculty, each providing a unique mix of research, education, and patient care effort, organized in 30 academic departments and 16 interdisciplinary institutes and centers, supported by more than 3,900 staff, educating 3,000 students, postdoctoral fellows, clinical residents/fellows, and trainees, and collectively generating about $2.6B in revenues, the School of Medicine is Stanford’s largest school and truly a complex organization.

We seek a Media and Trademark Specialist to provide support in planning, coordinating, and implementing communication programs that support public and media relations strategies and programs.

Duties include:

  • Assist in the implementation of and support program communication efforts, including timely creation and editing of marketing campaigns, websites, blogs, emails, and newsletters.
  • Review upcoming events, seminars, research reports, grant summaries, campus documents, specialized journals, and newsletters for possible leads to news and feature stories.
  • Assist in the production of content for the applicable university or unit websites; promote news stories to targeted regional, national, and international media.
  • Coordinate media relations, and ensure logistics and preparations are handled for media staff.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

A working knowledge of the health care industry. 

  • Excellent strategic thinking and project management skills
  • Collaborative approach to problem solving, able to work up and down hierarchies, from junior to senior contributors
  • Ability to prepare executive-level written communications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):

  • Bachelor's degree and one year of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):

  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated planning and/or project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to be self-directed and take initiative.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Frequently stand/walk, sit, use a telephone, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, speaking.
  • Occasionally grasp forcefully, writing by hand.
  • Rarely sort/file paperwork.
