Experience estimating mechanical construction and operating/life cycle costs. 
AutoCAD or Revit experience.


Job Description:

Summary
The Facilities Planning and Management (FP&M) department is seeking candidates for a Mechanical Engineer II/III.  This position helps with improvements to HVAC, mechanical, and plumbing systems in a university facilities environment.  The position requires a broad knowledge of mechanical systems engineering and assists in the resolution of complex problems.

Example of Duties for Engineer II

  • Investigates problems and requirements of projects, and develops plans for solutions in line with economic, personnel, and environmental considerations.
  • Prepares or secures and reviews cost estimates, compiles required cost and equipment information, and writes appropriation requests.
  • Performs project engineering work from design to implementation in accordance with the University’s standards.

Example of Duties for Engineer III

  • Originates formal project requests.
  • Oversees all phases of assigned standard engineering projects, ensuring the successful conclusion of all phases within an appropriate time and at an appropriate cost.
  • Completes complex engineering projects.
  • Serves as a consultant to other FP&M departments, providing technical information and engineering recommendations that assist with various projects and training purposes.
  • Contributes to capital renewal (deferred maintenance) planning committee.
  • May guide and train less experienced engineers.

This position will be filled as a Mechanical Engineer II or III.

To qualify for an Engineer II, the candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of related experience. The Engineer II is a pay grade 809.

To qualify for an Engineer III, the candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of related experience. Additionally, a Professional Engineering license is required. The Engineer III will handle more complex projects, with a broader scope, than an Engineer II. The Engineer III is a pay grade 810.
