Job Summary:


Reporting to the Garage Superintendent, the Mechanic Technician performs work primarily on small engines and motorized power equipment; Inspects, services and repairs motorized power equipment, including lawnmowers, bush hogs, weed eaters, leaf blowers, edge trimmers, chain saws, hedge trimmers, leaf vacuums, snow blowers, tractors, small motors, generators, golf carts, electric carts, low-speed vehicles (lsv), all-terrain vehicles, lifts, chippers, etc.; Utilizes many strategies to diagnose the source and extent of the problem; Identifies problems in increasingly complicated mechanical and electronic systems using diagnostic equipment; Determines mechanical, electrical, and fuel problems and makes necessary repairs; Performs routine engine maintenance, lubricates parts, replaces spark plugs, etc.; Tests and inspects engines for malfunctioning parts; Repairs or replaces worn, defective, or broken parts; Disassembles, installs, and reassembles major parts, components and engines following repairs; and Documents inspections, test results, work performed, and parts used.
In addition, this position models and promotes excellent customer service for internal and external customers; Deals calmly and effectively with others in difficult situations; Works well with other team members; Advises supervisor of customer needs, delivers appropriate responses, and monitors progress towards reaching goals and objectives, as directed; Reviews equipment issues, maintenance plans, and work performed with customers/clients; Executes priorities in order to improve response time and reliability; Maintains inventories of tools, materials, equipment, or products; Submits requests for materials, supplies, or equipment to supervisor; Performs work in-process and upon completion in compliance with instructions; Ensures completion of work adheres to established practices, highest quality standards, and overall acceptability of work; and Maintains designated working areas in a safe and orderly manner continuously free of trash and debris.

Skills /Knowledge/Abilities:


MS Windows/Office; Kronos
Driver's License — Preferred
Completion of postsecondary technical/skills training program and three to five years of motorized power equipment repair experience — Preferred.
Certification from the Equipment & Engine Training Council (EETC) — Preferred
