Job Description:

Provide quality medical services to a diverse student population as part of an outpatient clinic, and participate in health education and community outreach activities related to the University Student Health Services. Serve as a consultant and supervisor to SHS clinical staff. Serve as administrative designee as assigned and in the absence of the Medical Director . Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records and electronic N.Y.S. prescription prescribing procedures is essential. Experience working with a diverse adolescent/young adult population is required.

Primary Responsibilities:

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Manage acute illnesses including assessment and diagnosis, providing patient health education, ordering laboratory tests, x-rays, and prescribing medications
  • Provide health screening and education and assist in the development and implementation of preventive healthcare
  • Refer to specialty or emergency care as appropriate
  • Work with University Counseling and Psychological Services related to referring and receiving referrals
  • Keep timely and meticulous health records
  • Provide physicals for sports, study abroad and academic-related activities
  • Evaluate MMR/TB status in regard to administrative health requirement
  • Cooperate with Albany County Department of Health
  • Cooperate inter-departmentally with UAlbany
  • Participate in orientation and other outreach for students

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Assist Medical Director
  • Serve as designee in Medical Director's absence
  • Supervise SHS staff


Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of Medical School accredited by US Department of Education or International recognized accrediting organization
  • Graduate of an Accredited Residency
  • Current Board Certification in Family Medicine, OR Internal Medicine, OR Medicine and Pediatrics.
  • NYS Medical License, current. DEA, current.  
  • Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years experience working in Urgent Care settings.
  • 1-2 years experience working in College Health.
  • 1-2 years experience working with culturally diverse, adolescent, young adult population.
