Position Description


Advertised Job Summary
The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics’ Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Program Coordinator will work closely with the Program Director and Deputy Directors to implement the day-to-day activities of undergraduate and graduate student MCH training programs at the Arnold School of Public Health. In this role, the Program Coordinator will develop and implement student recruitment and retention strategies; coordinate and conduct student enrollment activities; assist and coordinate in activities related to MCH curriculum, MCH scholarship programs, and MCH Student Association; assist and coordinate administrative paperwork for the projects; assist in project evaluation and reporting; schedule and participate in partnership meetings; and other tasks.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree and 2 years related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree with prior experience in recruiting and working with undergraduate students from under-represented backgrounds; Familiar with USC systems, Peoplesoft, Finance Intranet; and MCH-related training/experiences; etc.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Strong oral and written communication skills and organization skills are expected. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, PowerPoint, database software, social media.

Develop and implement various recruitment strategies, which include developing and maintaining all recruitment materials in various formats (paper, social media, video, web page etc.), participating in recruitment activities, and developing and implementing retention strategies.

Coordinate and conduct student enrollment activities. This includes disseminating application forms, organizing and summarizing application materials, organizing admission committee meetings, completing meeting minutes, notifying admission decisions, and responding to inquiries.

Assist and coordinate curriculum-related activities. This includes assisting and tracking mentor-mentee meetings, tracking trainee’s program hours and training progress, assisting and coordinating monthly seminars and Spring summits, connecting trainees with experiential learning opportunities, providing or referring academic support resources to trainees, and serving as the first point of contact for all inquiries.
