Position Summary

The Practicum & Internship (P&I) Coordinator works within the Department of Counseling Psychology with a primary focus on supporting the Master of Arts in School Counseling program. This individual is responsible for administrative duties collaborating with the Program Director, faculty, placement site supervisors and personnel, University constituents and other pertinent stakeholders to facilitate and promote successful placement of students for various fieldwork placement assignments (e.g., practicum; internship) associated with the program. The P&I Coordinator is responsible for supporting all administrative functions related to placement assignments including, but not limited to student records, collaborating with stakeholders related to the coordination of placement opportunities, authorization/approval paperwork, evaluations, surveys associated with the placement process, and maintenance of relevant handbooks, forms, and other materials as needed.

The position requires exceptional communication and organizational skills. It requires the ability to build and foster relationships, to establish and maintain confidentiality, and to be a liaison with both external and internal stakeholders (e.g., placement site personnel; DU students, faculty, staff, and administration), as needed. It also requires knowledge of associated accreditation and certification/licensure policies, as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks and set priorities.

Essential Functions

Communication & Record Management 

  • Supports annual review of handbook, forms, policies, and other documents related to the P & I experiences and makes updates to each as needed, based on decisions and/or changes in relevant policies at any level (i.e., program; College; University; State; accreditation)
  • Tracks student feedback that may inform updates to P & I policy, procedure, and/or communications
  • Identifies themes and patterns in formal and informal feedback regarding sites, students, and policy issues via collaboration with stakeholders, program administration, and review of relevant data
  • Serves as first line of contact for P & I related issues, providing clear, accurate, and timely information to constituents
  • Coordinates hourly logs, student P & I records, feedback from site supervisors, section instructors, and students, and other relevant documentation
  • Provides administrative support related to placement site contract management as needed
  • Supports program collaboration with the Associate Director for Accreditation and Assessment toward assessment and accreditation efforts
  • Produces data for requests per Program Director approval
  • Collaborates with designated faculty and placement team members to regularly monitor and revise program evaluation forms, syllabi, and other documentation
  • Other duties as assigned

Clinical and Field Experiences 

  • Supports program oversight of student placements in various P & I settings
  • Supports site supervisor onboarding and training processes
  • Collaborates with designated faculty and third-party stakeholders to facilitate placement site approvals
  • Monitors placement pacing process (e.g., who has sites, who doesn’t; who has issues or needs special attention; has all paperwork been received as appropriate)
  • Facilitates escalations and feedback from section instructors and placement specialists
  • Collaborates with faculty to coordinate program efforts toward orientation, community building, and professional development among site supervisors
  • Escalates issues and concerns to Program Director and/or designated faculty as appropriate
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Comfort and confidence in collaboration with professionals outside of own discipline 
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office and comfort with technology

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited college or university
  • Experience within a professional educational or training environment (e.g., P-12 school system)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in related field from an accredited college or university
  • 1+ years experience in a similar role in an educational setting
  • Experience working with stakeholders at all levels of an organization/institution
  • Experience in/understanding of higher education
  • Experience/familiarity with Banner or other student information system
  • Familiarity with clinical experience in higher education
  • Experience in a direct support relationship in an institution of higher education or similar type organization
  • Familiarity with educational requirements related to School Counseling and/or Library and Information Science

Working Environment

1. Standard office environment.
2. Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
3. Noise level is quiet to moderate.

Physical Activities

1. Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period of time.
2. Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.

Work Schedule
The University of Denver's regular operating hours are Monday-Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. This position will work 20 hours a week, exact schedule to be determined.

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is 7.

Hourly Range:
The hourly range for the position is $25.54 ‐ $29.63
