Position Summary | This position is housed in the UNCG School of Education (SOE) Institute for Partnerships in Education. The Institute for Partnerships in Education (IPiE) provides the necessary infrastructure and leadership to facilitate and support long-term partnerships between the SOE and education-related agencies (e.g., school districts, libraries, community organizations, etc.) across North Carolina and beyond. The Instructional Coach will work as part of the Mathematics and Science Teachers of Tomorrow (MST2) partnership between UNCG and Guilford County Schools (GCS). The Instructional Coach for the MST2 program will teach classes in the SOE’s MAT program, will provide administrative leadership and programmatic support, and will also directly support GCS teachers in improving their instruction. They will be responsible for ensuring that participating teachers understand their role, develop effective practices for teaching middle and secondary mathematics and science, and when problems arise, helping to mediate and resolve the problem. The Instructional Coach is also responsible for establishing a learning community among the MST2 teachers, scheduling and attending staff development, and serving as the instructor for the program’s clinical experience and clinical seminars. The Instructional Coach will serve as a broker, connecting the University faculty, district staff, and teachers. The person in this position is expected to use considerable judgment to perform work responsibilities, and must be able to work independently with limited direct supervision, and in collaboration with multiple stakeholders including Institute leaders, faculty, staff, students, UNCG central office, and external partners. |
