The Clinical Scholar Track is for full-time faculty members who are heavily involved in clinical service, education, and related scholarship. This track has two career paths: Clinician-Educator concentrating on teaching and Clinician-Investigator for concentrating on research/scholarship. Significant contributions in professional and academic service are required for both paths.

The Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine located in Kansas City, Kansas at The University of Kansas Health System is seeking a full-time active candidate / Board Certified MFM specialist to join a dynamic practice. Join a very productive academic practice in a nationally recognized tertiary care facility (Ranked #1 hospital in the Metro area). The group consists of 5 experienced MFM specialists who provide the entire spectrum of Maternal-Fetal care with cutting-edge technology. The Division supports a fully accredited ACGME MFM Fellowship, currently with 3 fellows. The division faculty members are involved in fellow, resident, and medical student education, and hold academic appointments from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. The Division is active in research, currently participating in several NIH-funded grant studies as well as institutional collaborations. The practice is largely outpatient and consultative, with deliveries managed by in-house hospitalist coverage. Call is 1 week in 6 and is primarily phone-only. Sonographers are AUIM certified. Advanced fetal care clinics are staffed with experienced and dedicated nurse coordinators, as well as three board-certified perinatal genetic counselors. The hospital is staffed with full-time Neonatology specialists and has a level III NICU.

This is a health-system employed position, with competitive salary and potential for incentive bonus. Required Qualifications:

Board Certified/eligible in obstetrics & gynecology and maternal-fetal medicine. Eligible for Kansas and Missouri medical license.
 

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrate competence in areas of critical thinking, interpersonal relationships and technical skills. Outstanding written and communication skills.  Experience highly desirable.

Job Duties Outlined:

Management of high-risk service one week in six. Maintain an MFM ambulatory service 2 half days per week. Consult letters as appropriate. Interpret obstetrical ultrasounds. Perform obstetrical diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. These patient-care duties may involve the attending physician only, or they may involve training medical students, residents, or fellows. Generally, support the other clinical and service activities of the School.

Teach by giving lectures as assigned by the Chair, to faculty, fellows, residents or students.

Teaching in clinics and inpatient service of residents, fellows and medical students.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Chair or the Director of Maternal Fetal Medicine Division.
