The Materials Test Lab Technician is a skilled professional with a unique combination of hands-on hydraulic systems maintenance and repair experience as well as a firm understanding of MTS Flex Test software and programming capabilities. This individual is familiar with MTS hydraulic system electronics, software, and oil flow. The ideal candidate possesses a technical aptitude and proficiency in testing methodologies (i.e. ASTM and ISO testing standards), and has a drive to provide quality data to all customers. The Test Lab Technician position includes the following broad set of duties and responsibilities: equipment calibrations (Load transducers, pressure transducers, LVDT, servo hydraulic test frames, etc.), strain gage applications, hydraulic test frame setup (actuator repairs and rebuilds, hydraulic fitting installation), MTS Flex Test software programming, programming and setting up environmental chambers, routine maintenance and repairs of lab equipment, wiring of simple circuits and soldering, post processing test data, and strain gage application and setup.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 3 years of test lab experience. Formal technical training beyond high school can be substituted for two years of related experience.
• Technical and problem-solving aptitude.
• Familiarity of ASTM test standards and their applications.
• Willingness to adapt to evolving technologies and procedures.
• Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Experience with mechanical testing on materials and components.
• Experience performing lab maintenance on MTS equipment.
• Experience with Instron Test Machines, and MTS Test Frames.
• Experience performing calibrations on material testing equipment.
• Experience with DANTEC Dynamics, TestWorks and Microsoft Office.
• Due to requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. Citizen.

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

• Experience with internal working of an MTS Flex Test Controller.
• Digital Image Correlation (DIC) Setup and post processing.
• Strain Gage certification and familiarity.
• Experience in LabVIEW software.
