THIS POSITION IS LOCATED AT EGLIN AFB, FL. UDRI seeks a Materials Engineer with experience in computational materials research. The candidate shall evaluate the performance of energetics and propellants using state-of-the-art simulation tools. The candidate shall design and implement tools capable of utilizing machine learning techniques for design of energetic materials based on computational results and historical experiments. Effective usage of database schemes for rapid creation and retrieval of stored data will be required. The candidate shall participate and communicate results and methods across a multi-disciplinary, multi-laboratory team requiring coordination between engineering, physics, chemistry, computer science, and data science. The candidate shall be expected to assume an independent, lead role in the execution of data analysis, simulation execution, and presentation of findings in report or briefing form. This position is currently funded for 3 years.

PhD in a materials related field (physics, chemistry, material science, engineering, metallurgy).
Experience with the following programming languages: Java and Python.
