Job Summary

Involves the coordination of the materials management system throughout the medical center or health system, with regards to procurement, processing and distribution of materials and services. Ensures the efficient and cost effective acquisition of equipment and supplies throughout the medical center or health system.

Department Description

The Supply Chain department at Bay Front, Mission Bay is comprised of a comprehensive set of services enabling the ordering, receipt, and distribution of goods across a variety of clinical and non-clinical settings.  This entails the main inpatient units, perioperative areas, and the surrounding clinics.  This department is vital in supplying clinical areas with the appropriate goods to enable the highest levels of patient care, clinician protection, and excellence.  The relationship between upstream vendors and downstream customers is paramount to achieving patient care and expense goals.


Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the most current materials management best practices and systems.
  • Knowledge of relevant internal policy, external regulations, and best practices.
  • Leadership skills to motivate, coach and challenge team to achieve effective outcomes.
  • Ability to organize operations efficiently. Skills to improve processes, procedures, and systems.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a complex, challenging environment.
  • Demonstrates adaptability and flexibility, anticipates and effectively handles change.
  • Ability to collaborate within and across departments to coordinate daily supply chain activities and resolve problems.
  • Problem solving skills to address issues when no precedent exists and to develop creative alternatives.
  • Verbal and written communication skills, abilities to listen actively, persuade, advise, and counsel.
  • Three (3) to Five (5) years of Supply Chain or Materials Management Supervisory Experience.
  • Ability to prepare and present programs to various audiences

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
