Job Duties
This 12-month, fixed-term (non-tenure-track) faculty position will provide instruction, training, and mentoring of learners as they develop and apply research skills. Faculty level of master teaching instructor, teaching assistant professor, or teaching associate professor will be commensurate with qualifications. This position will have primary instructor duties and/or support instruction in courses that may include, for example, HLTH 2005: Research Skills in Health Information, HLTH 4010 Senior Seminar; SOCW 3401 Social Work Research; SOCW 3402 Applied Research and Statistics in Social Work; HDFS 4521 Research, Teaching and Leadership Experiences in HDFS; graduate coursework that develops skills for the critique of research literature and articulation between statistical/analytical methods and research designs; delivery of content leading to a credential in research skills or research development; and, mentorship of students engaged in undergraduate research. The exact assignment will depend on the credentialing and training of the candidate hired.
The faculty member in this position will provide service as the Research Development Program Director and in that role will provide strategic leadership to advance research capabilities across the College of Health and Human Performance by educating and supporting students, staff, and faculty on research development, submission, implementation, and evaluation activities. Service will also include working with university offices, community partners, and other constituents to successfully guide students and faculty to needed resources. As HHP continues to grow its research and methods expertise and portfolio, successfully connecting, coordinating, and disseminating methodological resources within the college will also be an important aspect of service in this position.

Minimum Education/Experience
Master’s degree in a discipline relevant to the job duties above including any of the disciplines of HHP (Health Education and Promotion, Human Development and Family Science, Interior Design and Merchandising, Kinesiology, Recreation Sciences, or Social Work) OR a discipline with a focus on data management, training/development, and resource management (e.g., accounting, biostatistics, business administration, library science, public administration) AND clearly documented expertise with health-related research and training relevant to a HHP discipline so that the candidate can be appropriately credentialed for teaching in a HHP unit.
