The Physical Plant Department (PPD) is seeking a Master Electrician who can effectively plan electrical system additions or modifications on secondary circuits; repair faults in primary (high voltage) systems and perform preventive maintenance on high voltage components.

PPD is responsible for the care and upkeep of the physical campus environment. Additionally, the department maintains the University's district energy system providing electricity, steam, chilled water and domestic water through its own distribution systems.  
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
High school diploma or GED; at least 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Electrical Journeyman License (EE98J); a second related Journeyman's License; or Equivalent military experience or Completion of 60 Credit Hours Electrical.

    Conditions of Employment:
  • CPR and First Aid certification must be obtained within 6 months of date of hire.
  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
  • Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.

    Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
  • Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job.
