We’re currently searching for a Drywall Hanger/Taper to join our Facilities & Operations team in Blacksburg, VA to help us in our mission. So, if you’re skilled at installing, repairing, finishing, texturing, and painting drywall in Student Affairs buildings, please keep reading.

Here’s what you need to know about the role:

1) You’ll join the Facilities and Operations team.

2) You’ll report to the Construction Trades Manager in a Regular twelve-month, 100% salaried staff appointment.

The Master Drywall Technician must posses the ability to measure, cut, install, tape, finish and or apply various textures per guidelines, existing finish standard, or blueprints. In addition, the Master Drywall technician must possess an understanding of different types of drywall, joint compounds and texture materials and tools. Required ability to apply popcorn, orange peel, stippling, knockdown, swirls, and other texture patterns. The Master Drywall Technician must have the ability to calculate materials and order them, determine estimated cost for projects, and perform repairs in continuously occupied spaces in a professional manner. Candidate must posses strong attention to detail and quality craftsmanship. Along with the duties above, the candidate must be familiar with metal and wood framing and possess the ability to build per specs and code requirements. Master Drywall Technician will be responsible for training and supervision of other technicians below on a periodic basis. Other duties to include flooring repairs, acoustical ceiling repairs, basic carpentry skills, and other duties as needed by the department.
