The MRLLC Advocate for Community Engagement makes a one-year commitment to work with the MRLLC program tofacilitate meaningful community-engaged learning experiences for student participants. Primarily, the MRLLC ACE acts
as a liaison among the MRLLC faculty, community partner organizations, and student participants. The ACE also
coordinates trainings with MRLLC Resident Advisor and Resident Minister.
Full Job Description:
Integrate Community-Engaged -Learning into MRLLC Program Experience:
- Support the coordination of community engagement projects that meet the MRLLC program learning outcomes and
- community-identified needs
- Maintain ongoing communication with students, MRLLC faculty, community partners, and Resident Advisor
- Develop and implement peer-led reflections.
- Work closely with MRLLC RA to plan and facilitate weekly community meetings (weekly Insakas)
- Provide peer-to-peer support and problem-solving as needed
- Support on-campus recruitment of qualified students to apply to the MRLLC program (during the spring semester)
- Participate in and support MRLLC activities, including the fall retreat, weekly insakas (community gatherings), class
- attendance, community engagement activities, and other events.
- Meet weekly with MRLLC director to report on developments related to the program, students, and community
- partnerships
Winter Intersession Black Heritage Immersion Trip:
- Support various reflections, conversations, and activities before, during, and after the immersion
- Work with MRLLC faculty in arranging trip program details and logistics as needed
Qualifications:
- Current USF undergraduate student; students who have completed the MRLLC program are strongly encouraged to apply
- Ability to make a one-year commitment to the program through the 2024-2025 academic school year
- Successful completion of a USF community-engaged learning course preferred
- Desire to learn about issues addressed by MRLLC community partner organizations
- Ability to work with diverse stakeholders
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Availability for MRLLC course (Fall 2024 MW 4:45-6:20 & Spring 2025 TBD) partial availability is acceptable
- Availability to participate in intersession travel (January 8-20 2025)
ACEs are not required to have previous experience facilitating reflection, designing community-engaged learning projects, or acting as a liaison between professors and the community. However, applicants must be committed to developing these skills.
